Ok so it has been awhile since I wrote on here. Aaron and Erika are gone now but they had to stay a few days in puerto plata because there were a bunch of storms and flights were cancelled and all that fun. But before they left we went surfing one more time, it's actually really fun and quite a workout! Then the day before they left Aaron rented a bike and the 4 of us rode to Samana, a town about an hour through the country side and over the mountains to the other side of the peninsula it was an awesome day! Just seeing the people along the way and were they live and the life style. It was a pretty cool ride. And Samana actually does not have too many visitors so they really notice the white people when they come into town, oh and the food is way cheaper too, Bonus!!
So the last week has been rainy off and on and we've just been living life and trying not too look too much like the bus loads of euro tourists that come into town on fridays, with their bright orange wrist bands and evil white ways, haha. Ben made a good point, when you go into town even if it's really hot wear jeans so it looks like you a little chilly and a "local." I think you might not get ripped off as much or something, I dunno.
Ok so the puppy, I guess lots have seen her on facebook already. So anyway this is what happened. I went out to get grocieries and for some reason the market was closed, ou really can't count on anything being open certain times between ciesta 1pm to 3:oopm, and the owners of shops just deciding that they don't want to work that day. Anyway so I went to the beach and just rode around for awhile and went back to see if the market was open. It still wasn't so I decided to go home. On the way home I'm riding along the street and I see this scranny littl puppy being chased by a group of kids. They chased him into and ally and started to throw rocks at her. I quickly pulled over and asked what was going on. There was a man there and he said she was no good and he gestured that they would kill her. So I asked if it was thier puppy and they said no. So I grabbed the puppy and put herin my back pack and rode off as they stode there laughing at me. So I brought her home and we cleaned her up and got her some food and water. Then me and Ben took her to the vet the next day and the vet was an italian guy, really nice, and gave us free worm medicine and gave her free shots. Not bad! So we are nursing her back to health, she weighs 1.6 pounds right now, but hopfully wil put on weight. And then we'll see what happens, but I think chopper needs a little sister, I think I just got a very strong feeling of Dale rolling his eyes, but thats ok ; ) Anyway, time for bed so talk to all of you later!! Oh yeah her name is chiquita.

Finally Doing Stuff

Ok So it finally has been nice enough and noone sitting on the can all day so we have been able to get out and do stuff! So Saturday Me Aaron and Erika went surfing to playa Bonita a really nice beach about 25 min out of town. Aaron didn't feel like taking another concho so we decided to try fit all 3 of us on my 125 nipponia. Needles to say it was a pretty sweet ride there and back. I was sitting on top of the gas tank and erika was in the middle with Aaron holding on to the rack at the back. We were so locals!! This is the only place I have ever seen that has 3 sets of foot pegs on a 125, good stuff! So yeah it was a good day of surfing lots of fun and we actually caught a few waves so it was a good day.

We were supposed to go scuba diving the next day but it was pouring so much that it got canceled. So we hung out and then went to the meeting. The kindom hall is only a school house that is pretty much a tin roof with a few walls so when it pours the brothers and sisters that sit on the sides have to use their umbrellas inside the hall it's pretty crazy. But it's just awesome to see stuff like that cause you would never see simple little things like that at home, really cool.

So that was yesterday and this morning we woke up early and met up with a brother from Samana a town about an hour east of here and he has started a company taking horseback tours through these rivers and the country and he is trying to sell the tour to the cruise ships so we got to be his guinea pigs. It was awesome! We went through the country side and he took us to this huge cave were all the locals hideout during hurricane season. It is full of bats and huge mineral deposits hanging from the tops of the cave. It was amazing. Then we picked fresh grapefruits and rode to the beach where we got to run the horses down the beach and through the water. All in all it was a pretty awesome day. Me and Aaron are thinking of going back to Samana tomorrow on bikes and just tour around so we'll see what happens there. Anyway talk to you all again soon!!!

So it is Thursday and aaron and erika have been here since tuesday and we are having a pretty good time. We all Went to Playa Bonita today, it's a beach about 15 min away and aaron and ericka had to get a concho (a moto taxi) something that is a little sketchy but you have to experiance. It's lets see how many people we can fit on a 125 bike. So we went to go surfing but the waves were too small today so we just went swimming instead. But we have been doing a lot of exploring and me and aaron have been in search of the best mamajuana (dominican moonshine) in town. We'll keep you posted who wins. Other than that we are just hanging out and trying to enjoy the sun and forget the snow. We are all planing on going out in service on saturday and hopfully we can find enough brothers and sisters that can take all the calls cause we probably would not be too effective. But there are a special pioner couple here that are determind to teach us a few presentations and force us to take our own calls so i guess we'll see how tht goes. But here are somemore pics and we'll let you know how service goes. We miss you all!!!

HaHa

I just wanted to add to Levis comments that it is not only in Canada that people laugh at his singing. This morning he was singing Bob Marley in the house and Salida ( the house keeper) was on the fount deck laughing so hard she had to sit down. She had tears rolling down her face. Oh Levi, always the entertainer.

pics 'n stuff

So it has been a mellow few days, Ben has been really sick so we haven't done too much. Just went to the meeting and out for supper. Actually Ben is really sick and had to fly back to Calgary to get checked out. He has been having problems with his Gall Bladder before he got here and then when he got salmonella that didn't really help so his been really sick lately and thought he'd better go back to Canada. He told us some of the horror stories about when he was in the doctors here. But he will be ok. He is supposed to be flying back here on Saturday as long as everything is ok, so we'll see. Yeah so anyway here are a few more pics of us on our way to the meeting, and the boys in the pool and stuff like that. So we'll talk to everyone later and we'll keep you posted on how Ben is doing. See ya!!
