Pictures

A few people have been asking for pictures so since i don't have too much to say today, here they are.

Levi manning the BBQ at the congregation beach day

Pica seams to be adjusting pretty well to being back in her home country. She now loves her kennel and sleeps in it every night. Sometimes she even shares it with the cat. Never thought i would see that day.

These are some of levis new paintings. Web site coming soon!

Playa Bonita

So we finally had a really nice day yesterday so we headed for the beach. These pictures are at the beach in front of the place we will be moving into in October. Once we get in i'll post some pics of the new place.

Can't you just picture yourself here.

So although it was a day beautiful yesterday, the roads were still pretty muddy. Therefore we went to the bakery this morning for coffee and a shoeshine.

Just thought i would mention to Ben, you know you are considered a local here when we drop your name and get a deal. Haha, thanks. Speaking of that, we now have a mailing address, so if anyone wants it just let us know. Now i'm off to study my book for lauras Bible study tomorrow. Well actually i already studied it, now i just have to read over it 100 times so i don't sound like a 5 year old tomorrow.

bug bites and thunder storms

Two things that always amaze me here is how you can always be covered in bug bite yet never see the bug and just how fast it can start raining. From nothing to buckets in under a second. Then just as fast as it starts, it stops. It was thundering so loud here this morning that all the animals went into hiding.

I got to enjoy our first congregation beach day on sunday. It was a going away party for a couple in the hall. We brought our little BBQ to the beach and a good time was had by all. Well except for all the bites from those darn sand flees. The water was still really rough but so warm. Almost to warm.

It is the assembly here this weekend so guess what i did all day monday. Well same thing as back home. Hair, hair and more hair. Haha lets just say the sisters were really glad i came before the assembly and not after. I had to get laura to translate a few things cause i really didn't want to mix up what they were tring to explain.

Levi and i are going to wait for the English assembly in november because a full day of spanish is just too much right now.

Tuesday afternoon was spent with Laura going from Bible study to Bible study. At her first study the housholder agreed to read every other paragraph if i read the rest. So i stumbled my way through but i did it with no practicing. Then the householder wanted to know why my book wasn't studied. IT WAS A NEW BOOK that laura gave me right before the study, and i didn't have my english copy. So at the end of the study the householder said that if she has to prepare for the study, so do i. Haha, talk about being called out by the householder.

We got to reserve our apartment on wendsday so October 15th is moving day. Yay. Then we spent all afternoon at a restaurant on the beach while levi uploaded a youtube video. It's much faster there then at the house where there is no guarantee that the internet will not stop. Thus starting the whole process over again.

Hey Nikea you would not believe what Lindo (the supermarket for those of you who don't know what Lindo is) looks like now. There is a huge new deli and veggie department and the liquor section is soooo fancy. They have the best feta i have ever tasted. Expensive but a good treat every once in a while. And if anyone decides to come visit, PLEASE bring me a veggie peeler. Found an awesome one last year but not this time around. Found tickets out of Detroit for $39.00 for anyone who feels so inclined. :-D

So with the pouring rain it looks like it will be a day inside playing settlers online. Come find me Kristy, Leroy69 if you feel like a challenge hehe.

One last thing. Congratulation Joel and Jocelyn. Sorry we couldn't be there to celebrate your very special day. We wish you all the best and will be thinking of you tomorrow. We know you two will have a very wonderful life together. Send some pics please, anyone.

Please don't forget to leave us a comment so i know someone is reading this. No point in writing if no one reads it. haha Ok better publish this before the rain knocks out the connection.

finally the beach

SO i am trying to keep my promise about updating this blog every couple of days. Not to much going on but i'll tell you about it anyway. Sorry if it's not all that interesting. Anyway we went in service yesterday to El Limon, the next town over. Wow talk about just being thrown right back into it. Laura is determined that no one speak English to me so I learn Spanish faster. Well walking to the second call Sara tries to give me a presentation in Spanish. SO was not ready for that but i said i would read the scripture then ofter the magazine at the end. Talk about feeling like a five year old. But i guess you have to start somewhere. Ok so i get two calls done then at the next house Sara asks me to read the scripture, then another one, then another one. I was like um i haven't practiced those ones but she said "i know, but can do it." So glad everyone is so laid back here. Service is just as amazing as remember. Everyone wanting to talk no mater if you are at their home, their business, or just on the street. After three hours of walking i was so ready for a nap. And that is just what i did.

Today we finally made it to the beach but due to the hurricane, the water is really turned up so you end up covered in sand by the time you get out.

Sorry, going for dinner, be back in an hour. ;-D

ok i'm back. Now where was i. ok so seeing as the water was not the greatest we pretty much just chilled under a palm tree. So rough, i know. Levi went to get a drink at the palapa on the beach and the guy starts asking levi where he's been and if hes been cheating on him at another restaurant. Levi said "no it's just because my wife is here now". So the guy laughs and now thinks i have a leash on levi. haha. Anyway, came home and when to the meeting. Saturday meeting really throw me off here. Was thinking of phoning home but thought that everyone would be at the meeting at that time. Opps guess not.

So yeah, we just got back from dinner at fantastico with Colby. Come to think of it, it's probably a good thing i'm here now seeing as those two did everything together. People around town must have started to wonder. HaHa sorry guys. Now i'm going to go watch some tv and go to bed. Good night everyone. Thanks for reading my babble. Buenas noches.

Blog Takeover

Hi everyone,

Just so you all know I (Amber) am taking over this blog seeing as Levi has abandoned it for vloging. I would much rather write then video myself so here goes.

It's been 4 days since i got here and it's been raining off and on so the yard is like a swimming pool but not a nice one. haha. My flight was good, nothing to exciting there. I was on a plane full of people going to the all inclusive so i felt bad for them when we landed and it was pouring rain. They went through customs pretty fast so i was left there all alone filling out paper work for Pica when all the lights went out. They pushed me out so fast so they could go home that they didn't even look at my bags. Pica and I were pretty excited to see Levi waiting for us.

I spent the next day trying to get settled in and do some laundry. Not fun when it's like 100% humidity or pouring rain. This afternoon has turned out to be nice and it looks like the hurricane will be missing the island so that is good but you can still see it in the water, very rough.

We went to look at some places to rent yesterday and today and found one right in fount of my favorite part of the beach. It's a two bedroom apartment in a residential complex so very safe and secure. LOTS OF ROOM FOR COMPANY! wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Just waiting to hear when Anita ( the sister we are house sitting for) is coming back.

Went to the meeting last night and it was so good to see everyone. Not everyone is here right now and there are a few new faces but such a warm welcome. The sisters are already making plans to help me with my Spanish which is good cause i need alot of help.

Anyway that's about all, but I'll try to keep you all up to date as to life in the D.R. Don't forget to leave us comments to and keep us up to date with things back in canada or just to say hi. Miss ya all.
