Supermoon

Well i guess it's ok to tell this story now that i know every thing's good. So monday night levi was heading to get us some pollo suizo and as he went around a corner some guy was going the wrong way on a one way and took out levis back end. He slid across the road and hit a concrete pillar on the other side. The guy didn't even stop. Thank goodness he was not hurt to bad. Some bumps and bruises, a crushed fender and broken headlight but that's all. So we thought. He iced his bumps and replaced the headlight but then the next day his foot started swelling. We're pretty sure he has a broken toe but again nothing serious. It has turned all sorts of pretty shades of purple and green. He's back up on his feet now and it's all good.
Here's a picture of his toe when it started swelling, but before it turned color.

Our new house
I keep thinking i should get busy and start packing seeing as we get our new place in 2 weeks but then i remember that i really don't have much to pack. All we really have is things that we use on a regular basis. Makes moving much easier when you have nothing. haha. We're getting excited to be in our own place. Somewhere that we can decorate to our liking. The owner is busy cleaning it up and painting right now so it should be nice and fresh for us. Can't wait to get home and go through my boxes so i can bring back some of my own stuff. For now this is the only picture we have but i'll post some when we get the keys.
This is the mural that levi has been painting for the past few weeks. Must say it looks pretty good. He's all done now and ready to move on to the next one as soon as the paint comes from Holland.
The painting in process. Just to show how big it really is.
Just another day climbing a mountain in service.
The view in the other direction.
No worries about snow and ice in service here but we still have our challenges.
The sun just before it starts to set.
The supermoon
Love our camera.

This friendly little guy was crawling up the inside of my pant leg while i was trying to take pictures of the moon. Lets just say i was not to happy.
Oh by the way, he wasn't so little.

clarification

Ok so i guess there was a little misunderstanding. There's not going to be a french group here but because there is not a bearing through book in creole, those who speak french are going to get together to study the book and the creole cong. will be studying something else. I'm pretty sure that is what i was told. It was in spanish so i wouldn't guarantee all the details are correct but close enough. Haha.

Other then that not to much has been going on around here. Levis been busy painting his mural and surfboards. It kind of cool though because the people he is doing the mural for have started a web site on Las Terrenas and have featured levi on it. Maybe it will lead to more work for him.

I spent all day in service on friday and by the end of the day i thought i was going to fall asleep in my chair. By that time my spanish brain shut off and i was done. I was pretty proud of myself seeing as it was the first time i made my whole presentation up all on my own. Granted it's short sweet and to the point but i did it.

Well just a short blog tonight seeing as the power keeps going out and i better post this before i loss it.

It's Official

Well, looks like we are here for another year. We are signing a lease on a house this week for a year so it looks like our journey will continue a little longer. Hannah found a house for rent while in service the other week and thought of us. Why? Because it has a little room off the front that at one time was a SALON. Woo Hoo. She took us by the other day to take a look and help translate of course. We meet with the owner who used to live in the house and ran her salon out of it as well. Thank goodness for Hannah. We can get by with our spanish but when it comes to contracts and money it's good to know exactly what they are saying. Anyway we agreed on a price but had to sign for a year so it looks like we are moving sooner then expected. Our agreement is up on our apartment at the end of the month and we take possession of the new place the first of April.

Now with all the changes, we are going to have to alter our plans of coming home. It looks like we will be coming back around April 20 - June 20. Not sure when we will be where, but we will be in Canada. It just seams to work out easier with moving and having to work around the heat restriction with Pica and the flight. Now that i know when i'm coming home, i'm getting excited to see all my family and friends. All i know is it better stop snowing by then.

Things are finally falling back into routine this month. For the first time in a long time there is nothing going on in march. We can get back on track with daily life and take a breather before the crazy month of April comes upon us. With moving, pioneering, the memorial and coming back to Canada it's going to be a busy month. Ever since we have stared coming the the D.R. we have wanted to be here for the memorial so we definitely don't want to miss it this time.

We herd some exciting news the other day, Diego, a brother from the Creole hall was appointed as a ministerial servant and starting (i think) this month there is going to be a new french group here in Las Terrenas. Things are on the move. It's amazing to watch the growth of this little town.

So That's about all for now but as soon as i can i'll post some pics of the new place so you all can see what our Dominican living will be like.
