A Little Taste of Paradise

Yesterday we got to have just a little taste of paradise. We spent the day at two different fresh water cenotes (a sinkhole with exposed rocky edges containing groundwater). The water was so clear and blue that you could see forever. We left at about 8 in the morning and had about an hour and a half dive north past Nagua. The first stop was at laguna Dudu. This was the larger of the two cenotes. Cindy, Greg and Ben went cave diving through 3 different tunnels leading out of the cenote. While they did that Noah,Jaguar, Nikea, Levi and I got to snorkel and swim while we waited. There weren't to many fish here just some small black and gray ones seeing as it's fresh water. But we did see some shrimp. Even though there were not many fish it was still fun to swim in such clear water.
The stairs leading down to the water.
The water was so clear you could see way down before you even got to the water.
A view from the top
Noah was pretty excited to go swimming.

Noah was not the only one excited to get into the water.

The divers getting ready to go under.
It's amazing how you have no depth perception in crystal clear water. I thought i could just step of the last step into the water but it was about a 4 foot drop.
Noah showing us a sweet flip.
And Jag as well.
The middle of the laguna was about 40 feet deep.
Next (after lunch) we made our way to Blue Lake I swear i'm going to have this in my backyard one day. It was much smaller then Laguna Dudu but so amazing.
The water just seamed to glow blue. In spots it was about 30 feet deep and you could see every pebble on the bottom.
Again it was so clear you had no idea how deep it was.
Koi Fish
Believe it or not you couldn't touch the bottom there.
At times it was hard to tell where the water stopped and the rocks began.

The view from the water, out.
It's hard to see in this picture but when you put your finger on the rock, little shrimp would come and clean it for you. They blended into the rock so well that it was hard to get a picture of them but if you look close you can see the claws on Levis fingernail. It kinda feels like pins and needles when they are cleaning.
Looking for shrimp.
The coolest thing for the boys was that they got to try the scuba gear. Greg would give them his spare regulator and take them down.
I swear the boys are part fish. Look out Noah, Jags coming for ya.I have a feels Noah and Jag are going to be divers when they're older.Me and Levi
The sun rays shining down thru the water were so beautiful. I think this is now my favorite place on the island.

So yeah that's how we spent our day yesterday. Must say i can't complain. We were all pretty tired so when we got home and cleaned up we headed to Big Dans for dinner and home to bed. The boys came to spend the night with us last night so today they are getting their fill of video games and painting with uncle Levi. We're such good babysitters.

Oh i almost forgot, we have a bunch of video to but I was having trouble getting it on the blog so check it out on levis you tube channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4qm3w72MoA
